| Rowett Research Services Ltd (RRS)
is the knowledge transfer and technology interaction subsidiary
of the Rowett Institute (www.abdn.ac.uk/rowett).
The Company was founded in 1988 and in its early years focussed
on providing contract research for industry. Since 1999 it has focussed
more on developing the interface between the scientific and business
communities through research collaborations and through adding commercial
value to the scientific results produced by the Institute. Throughout,
RRS has remained flexible to meet the changing needs of the business
and scientific communities.
RRS identifies, develops and
manages commercial opportunities arising from ideas, inventions
and expertise within the Rowett Institute. From our carefully managed
and evolving IP portfolio we identify and work with private and
public sector partners to take ideas and expertise through all stages
of development to the market place.
Patent protected inventions are available for license
or assignment to commercial partners or can form the
basis of a new company start-up. We welcome and encourage strategic
alliances to develop collaboratively licensed inventions particularly
where this brings added value to the industrial community. Our collaborations
range from projects on fundamental science through to practical
applications of technology to practical problems. Where appropriate
we work with scientists and partner organisations to identify and
source the most suitable finance for development of ideas and intellectual
property, particularly where further 'proof of concept' work is
needed.
As part of our continuing commitment to commercialising
Intellectual Property we are a founding consortium member of the
Genomia Seed Fund (www.genomia.org.uk)
and are members of the Genesis Faraday Partnership (www.genesis-faraday.org)
and the Food Processing Knowledge Transfer Network (www.foodprocessingktn.com).
RRS offers a comprehensive portfolio
of specialist services to support the pharmaceutical, biotechnology,
food and related industries. Services extend from fundamental microbiology
and genomics to whole body measurements. Our unique facilities for
residential or out patient human trials offer unparalleled capability
for nutrition and related food and health care studies. For more
details of all of these follow the links from the menu on the left
of the page.
